The Spectacular Now - Tim Tharp This is not a story about growth, instead the protagonist refuses to move beyond being the life the party. Alcohol is his courage, anesthetic and constant companion; he frequently refers to himself as "God's own drunk." Well written, a pleasure to read despite the dark content.
