This tale takes place in Poland. The youngest of 3 sisters, Mireleh, has no special skill or talent but is favored by her father. However when he takes great offense to her saying that she loves him "the way meat loves salt," she runs away. A Rabbi and his family take her in. They attend a wedding feast, Mireleh stays behind. She attends the feast thanks to a magic stick, loses a shoe, etc. The prophet Elijah provides the necessary magic. Author's note includes history of this version of the tale.
