1Q84 - Jay Rubin, Philip Gabriel, Haruki Murakami Perhaps something has been lost in translation, but this story is painful to read. It is at times pretentious, preachy, oversexed, and repetitious. At about 400 pages in it looks like the multiple stories are finally coming together, but I really don't care to read another 600 to find out how it is resolved.
